Is e.l.f. really cruelty-free? Most definitely!

Hello everyone! My cruelty-free sleuthing has really been kicked up a notch! Over the past two days I’ve probably asked 40 different companies about their animal-testing policies and as I verify a company’s status,Β  I’ll let you know.

elf-cosmetics-logoThis one will come as no shock to most but I wanted to verify everything myself, starting with brands I already own. e.l.f., or eyes lips face, is indeed cruelty-free. I sent them my list of questions and was very happy with their initial response:

“Thank you for your support and interest in e.l.f. cosmetics. At e.l.f. Cosmetics, we believe that beauty comes from within all of us. Our line of luxurious cosmetics captures great looking skin with gorgeous colors [sic] and quality ingredients. Our products are designed to let your inner beauty shine through.

“You can find all e.l.f. ingredients indicated on the packaging of our products as well as on our website. All ingredients used in e.l.f. cosmetics are vegan friendly, safe and meet F.D.A requirements. Ingredients are listed on our website as well as on the packaging of our products.

“We are proud to say that we do not test on animals or endorse such practices. We currently support PETA and are partners with PETA in the Caring Consumer Project. The eye brushes in our essential line are made from cut natural horse hair and have genuine wood handles. The other brushes in our essential line and the brushes in our studio line are vegan friendly and made of anti-bacterial, synthetic Taklon hair.”

When I asked them to double clarify their plans to sell in places like China, where animal-testing is a requirement, they were really helpful too in confirming that they do not do so nor will they.

I am happy to say that e.l.f. is indeed a cruelty-free cosmetic line that I will continue to use and apart from their clearly labelled horse hair make-up brushes, they are vegan too; bonus!

I have quite a few e.l.f. products, which I love, so I am very happy to say I’ll get to keep them and cannot wait until the European website re-launch at the end of this Summer.

Happy shopping everyone!
