So, after my looong hiatus from blogging I am back! There’s no need to get into why I’ve been away because it wasn’t exciting, haha! Just busy with college, then a much needed relax and reboot and then I started an internship. And now I’m back! And I promise never to go away for so long again.
And with that, let’s get right back to it. I bought a lot of make-up lately (way too much in fact) so expect me not to run out of cruelty-free product reviews for a while. Today I tried out a trick I learned from Signature Styles on YouTube in their video Make Up Tips for Redheads. Check it out here if you have red hair and fair but ruddy skin to match:
So I used e.l.f. Studio Flawless Finish Foundation in Porcelain and Catrice Cosmetics Prime and Fine Anti-Red Base. I mixed them on the back of my hand and then applied with a sponge as usual. The finished product was quite different from my natural skin tone.
I was really impressed by the result. Mixing the two meant the make-up felt lighter on my skin without the need for heavy concealer. What you’re seeing is filter-free and no other products were used. I was nervous because I’ve never used green-tinted base make-up before. It seems strange to me; I always thought I’d end up looking like the Hulk!
But in fact I will most definitely be using this trick again.
As for the products themselves, I love the e.l.f. Studio Flawless Finish Foundation. I’ve been using this one for a long while and I love it so much I hope my bottle doesn’t run out before e.l.f.’s website re-launch at the end of the Summer! (In the mean time, you can buy it on the US site for $6) I would recommend it to anyone with fair skin in Porcelain because it’s light in colour and in texture, good for daily and occasion use, long lasting and light enough to look natural on light (or if you’re like me, translucent) skin.
Five star review: *****
I bought the Catrice Cosmetics Prime & Fine Anti-Red Base just last night; late night shopping in Penneys. This was after I watched the Signature Styles video and I was nervous but I was willing to risk it for an investment of just €4.99! It works so well with foundation. My skin looks so much more even and I barely feel it on my face like I would heavy concealer to hide my red patches. The bottle also claims the product is hydrating and my skin does feel well moisturised, unlike using heavy concealer, which can ultimately dry my skin out. I’ve only used it once and I would definitely buy again!
Five star review: ****** (Is it possible to give something six out of five stars?!)
Both products are also cruelty-free, just in case you’re new to my blog. For returning followers, you already knew that. 😉
If anyone reading this has used these products and agrees or disagrees with me or has more tips for red-ruddy skin, leave them in the comments below!
I have now finished my face for the day so Happy Saturday everyone! 😀
